GRAPHIC LIGHT TYPEFACE
Graphic Light, which is actually not light but demi-bold, is
one of the few public domain fonts that can be used in text
applications. You usually find decorative or script fonts which
beginning type designers seemingly prefer to tackle. This font
was rendered by Richard Mitchell of The Underground Grammarian
from a real metal type for use on the Macintosh. Like most of
the other public domain and shareware PostScript fonts, it was
created by using Fontographer 3.0.
I found it in one of the Compuserve forums and converted it
for use on the IBM PC and its clones. The magic of PostScript
makes it easy to do this as long as you can sort out the differ-
ences in file formats between Macintosh and IBM PC files.
The files in this distribution are as follows:
GRAFLITE.PFA The actual PostScript font outline file.
GRAFLITE.AFM The font metrics file.
GRAFLITE.MAP Bitmap screen font file.
GRAFLITE.TXT Text file from the font creator.
READ .ME The file you're reading now.
For use in WordPerfect, GRAFLITE.PFA is the only file you'll
need. Copy it to the directory where you keep your PostScript
files. This PFA file, which contains the font outlines, is
similar in nature to Bitstream PSO files. The other files would
be useful in other applications and are only included here for
completeness' sake and to match what the author wanted to dis-
tribute.
Support for use of Graphic Light in WordPerfect is provided
in WPUS1.ALL, Release 4, which you can easily obtain by down-
loading WPUS14.ZIP from the same board where you found this.
WPUS1.ALL, which was originally written for the QMS UltraScript
PC and PC Plus, supports other Public Domain/Shareware fonts and
works with other PostScript printer/interpreters, as well.
